Digital X-RAY
Benefits, Safety, Typesand Procedure
Benefits of digital X-rays:
- Improved image quality:
Digital X-rays produce images with higher resolution and contrast than film-based X-rays. This makes it easier for doctors to see and diagnose abnormalities. - Reduced radiation exposure:
Digital X-rays require less radiation exposure than film-based X-rays. This is because digital sensors are more sensitive to radiation than film. - Faster results:
Digital X-rays can be viewed immediately after the image is captured. This means that doctors can diagnose problems more quickly and efficiently. - Easier storage and sharing:
Digital X-rays can be easily stored and shared electronically. This makes it easier for doctors to consult with colleagues and patients to get a second opinion.

Types Of Digital X-RAY
Safety & Procedure
Safety
Digital X-rays are very safe. The amount of radiation exposure from a digital X-ray is very small and is considered to be safe for most people. However, pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions should talk to their doctor about the risks and benefits of having a digital X-ray.
Procedure
The procedure for a digital X-ray is very similar to the procedure for a traditional film-based X-ray. The patient will be positioned under the X-ray machine and the X-ray technician will take the image. The image will then be displayed on a computer monitor, where the doctor can view it and diagnose any problems.
IOPAR
Intraoral Periapical Radiograph
An intraoral periapical radiograph is a type of X-ray image taken from inside the mouth. It provides a detailed view of a specific tooth and its surrounding structures, including the roots, surrounding bone, and supporting tissues. This type of X-ray is commonly used in dentistry to diagnose dental issues such as tooth decay, gum disease, abscesses, and abnormalities in tooth development. It is especially helpful in evaluating the root structures and identifying any potential problems in a specific tooth.
OPG
Orthopantomogram
The OPG X-ray can provide valuable information about the position, alignment, and condition of the teeth, as well as the presence of any abnormalities, such as impacted teeth, cysts, tumors, fractures, or signs of periodontal disease. It is often used for comprehensive dental examinations, treatment planning for orthodontics, dental implants, oral surgery, and assessing overall oral health.
